CLIENT CHALLENGE

A major bank needed to redevelop its entire IRB credit risk model landscape across both retail and non-retail -an 8+ year programme involving around 400 FTEs.
With strict regulatory deadlines and the scale to match, it needed strong governance, a clear roadmap and alignment across the whole organisation. On a programme this long, keeping everyone pointed in the same direction is as hard as any individual model.

INSIGHTS

Over eight years and 400 people, the hardest part was not one specific model. It was keeping decisions, budget and direction aligned long enough to deliver.
That steady governance, year after year, was the real achievement. The models followed because the programme stayed controlled.

WHAT WE DID

We restructured the programme and its governance model so it could be managed with confidence over the long term.

A programme of this size creates constant decisions: capacity, budget, priorities, dependencies and impediments. Our role was to keep those moving, make sure the right decisions were made at the right time, and maintain control across the different streams.

With that structure in place, the IRB models could be delivered and implemented step by step - on time, compliant and across more than eight years of execution.
